Composition Commission issued to Juan Pablo Carreño: A Mass for Reconciliation with the Self

The agency Nova et Vetera and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Medellín, Bogotá, Colombia, commissioned Juan Pablo Carreño to write a mass for large orchestra, organ, electric guitar, mixed choir, choir of twelve bass-baritone voices and four soloists (soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor and bass-baritone). As a tribute to the memory of the victims of the violence in Colombia, this sacred work entitled A Mass for Reconciliation with the Self revolves around a dialog between a text by St. Francis of Assisi and some testimonies of victims of the recent violence in Colombia, a dialog juxtaposed by some texts by two of the greatest Colombian thinkers of the 20^th century: the writer Fernando González-Ochoa and the philosopher Nicolás Gómez Dávila.
