Composition Commission issued to Sarah Nemtsov

Finnish Baroque Orchestra, Helsinki

The musicians of the Finnish Baroque Orchestra are obviously Baroque music specialists. In existence for almost 30 years now, the orchestra and its members equally claim to also move with consummate ease in the field of contemporary music. For this reason, the orchestra itself also issues composition commissions – in 2018 to Sarah Nemtsov for a roughly 20-minute piece for amplified ensemble. The premiere of the commission supported by the EvS Music Foundation will be held in July at the Time of Music Festival in Viitasaari. A further performance is already planned for October as part of a concert series by the orchestra in Helsinki. The new piece will be juxtaposed with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Jean-Philippe Rameau.
