Composition Commissions to Helmut Lachenmann and Sergej Newski

In a letter of recommendation endorsing the Ensemble Recherche Helmut Lachenmann once wrote: "Founded in 1985, its eight musicians influence and 'spice up', i.e. energize, contemporary musical life internationally at the highest, and in my view, unparalleled level as sensational mediators of works of New Music, without losing sight of tradition and those great historical works that paved the way for today's creativity." After his 1st String Trio (1965), Helmut Lachenmann is now writing his 2nd String Trio for the musicians of Ensemble Recherche. Sergej Newski's new composition for the whole ensemble and electronics is also sponsored by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
