Composition Commissions issued to Annesley Black and Snežana Nešić

Ensemble contemporain de Montréal, Canada

The combination of orchestral and electroacoustic creations, poetry, video and stage acting brings to life works by Annesley Black, Myriam Boucher, Symon Henry and Snežana Nešić. The composers explore the relationship between bodies and identities, memories and their transformation into stories. In a single, continuous thread, L'Outre-rêve emerges as a work in the form of an initiatory story that explores the relationship between bodies and identities, memories and their narrative, and the imaginations of the dream and their inscription in reality.

The works are permeated by a mixed eastern and western cultural heritage. They develop a atmosphere that culminates in a form of ideal and dream. As the story and the pieces of music unfold, figures reveal themselves musically and poetically, while at the same time combining traces of their transcultural identities. The origins of four composers unite and different worlds of sound emerge. Embracing the cultural richness of these musical, symbolic and poetic worlds, three soloists and 10 musicians from ECM+, conducted by Véronique Lacroix, perform the musical works of composers Annesley Black (Canada/Germany), Myriam Boucher (Canada), Symon Henry (Egypt/Canada) and Snežana Nešić (Serbia/Germany. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation supports the composition commissions issued to Annesley Black and Snežana Nešić.
