Diabelli 2020: Eleven Composition Commissions

For the Beethoven year 2020 Rudolf Buchbinder is creating a very special framework for the presentation of the Diabelli Variations: Not only will the 33 Variations be accompanied by further variations penned by Beethoven's contemporaries, but the pianist has also commissioned 11 composers to create new variations alongside the famous piano work. Works by Brett Dean, Toshio Hosokawa, Brad Lubman, Philippe Manoury, Krzysztof Penderecki, Max Richter, Johannes Maria Staud, Tan Dun, Rodion Schtschedrin, Lera Auerbach and Jörg Widmann will be premiered.
