Four Composition Commissions

Musikfestival Bern, Switzerland

Musikfestival Bern connects Swiss musicians with international players, promotes cooperation between local partners and stands out as a laboratory for new concert concepts and music scenery. The next edition will run from September 1 to 5, 2021 and will focalize on the theme of "swarms". Swarms, those inwardly seemingly chaotic entities which can only be recorded statistically, but which outwardly act in such an orderly and strategic manner, are also a theme in music. Mosquitoes, fish and birds become sounds and form agile sound masses.

The festival will feature premieres of compositions by Helga Arias, Patrick Frank, Michael Pelzel and Annette Schmucki, all made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
