Renewable Energy

Ensemble Nikel, Kiryat Tivon, Israel

Over the past thirteen years, Ensemble Nikel has focused on bringing the musical work of both established and young composers from around the world to Israeli audiences. During this time, a specific repertoire for the unique instrumentation of the ensemble has developed and has been performed in numerous productions. The ensemble focuses on long-term collaboration with a few selected composers such as Chaya Czernowin, Stefan Prins, Mark Barden, Ann Cleare, Jose Maria Sanchez Verdu and more recently Enno Poppe, Klaus Lang and Clara Iannotta. The ensemble is renewing its repertoire and instrumentation. For this purpose and in coordination with European organizers such as IRCAM, the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, the Bludenzer Tage Zeitgemäßer Musik, the Ensemble has selected ten composers to compose a quartet to be presented in the Israeli concert series Renewable Energy, which will take place at various locations in Tel Aviv. The concerts will present works by Annesley Black, Huihui Cheng, Hugues Dufourt, Turgut Ercetin, Matthew Shlomowitz, Chaz Underinner, Zenyep Toraman, Katherine Young, Yulan Yu and Claudio Panariello.
