"We Were Never Gone"

Arditti String Quartet, London, Great Britain

The Arditti String Quartet combines Hellerau with Buffalo after the “June in Buffalo” event was cancelled due to the travel restrictions. This meant eight young composers from the University at Buffalo (NY) were unable to collaborate with the quartet musicians. In Hellerau a solution has now been found: in streamed video sessions the students’ new works will now be worked upon and subsequently premiered in the Großer Saal of the festival playhouse in Hellerau. Another invitation takes the quartet to Eisenach for Yiddish Summer Weimar, to Bad Homburg and Edenkoben. Two premieres of James Clarke’s feature in the program alongside works by Birtwistle, Kurtág, Ligeti, Mundry, Nono, Rihm and Zender. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is facilitating the concerts by the quartet.
