Gezeitenkonzerte 2016 – Composer Portrait Helmut Lachenmann

The Gezeitenkonzerte  (Tidal Concerts) of the regional East Frisian culture, science and education association Ostfriesische Landschaft – Regionalverband für Kultur, Wissenschaft und Bildung opens up new spaces in the region for music: since 2012 regular concerts have been held in churches, barns and castles. The programs will be accompanied here by initiatives that bring the audience and the landscape closer together, although conveying music to young listeners also plays a key role. The motto of this year’s Gezeitenkonzerte is ‘SommerNachtsTraum’ (Midsummer Night’s Dream), inspired by the theatrical music of Felix Mendelssohn. Performed will not only be canon works but also contemporary compositions. This year the organizer will be dedicating a portrait to Helmut Lachenmann that will be supported by the EvS Music Foundation.
