“Körper | Schatten” by Ulrich Kreppein and Alexander Fahima

This text by Peter Weiss is used by the perception theater “Körper | Schatten” (Bodies | Shadows) that the artists Ulrich Kreppein and Alexander Fahima wrote for Opera Lab Berlin as part of the music theater series IM FELD. The work is for string quartet, double bass, flute, clarinet, trombone, percussion, singers, performers and electronics.

Perception theater is the search for a theatrical form where no story, no idea is recounted but instead perceptions that are created by the theatrical and musical media in fact become the plot. The focus here lies on seeing, hearing, feeling and on the perspectives that arise between the interplay of the sensory organs. This gives rise to suggestive experiential realms and networks of experiences that combine with respective other stories for each spectator.

Called into existence in 2015 by Opera Lab Berlin, the IM FELD series brings together composers and direction teams who realized smaller, experimental new music theater productions with the ensemble at the Acker Stadt Palast venue in Berlin in rehearsal and performance phases in each case lasting one week. The “Körper | Schatten” project by Ulrich Kreppein and Alexander Fahima, to be performed in 2016, is being supported by the EvS Music Foundation.
