Portrait Concerts for Simon Steen-Andersen and Hans Abrahamsen

Miller Theatre at Columbia University, USA

As a leading organizer of contemporary music in New York City, the Miller Theatre at Columbia University regularly presents evening-long concerts that place individual composers centerstage.
The 2015/16 season will, amongst other things, see the holding of two portrait concerts supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation for the composers Simon Steen-Andersen and Hans Abrahamsen. The concert will include the premiere of a piece for prepared stringed instruments, joysticks, whammy pedal and video by Simon Steen-Andersen while at Hans Abrahamsen’s concert “Schnee” (snow) will be in focus. This is a monumental piece for two pianos and percussion with woodwinds and string trio.
The world class composers and musicians give the audience direct insights into the music, thus providing them with a deeper appreciation of New Music.
