Portrait Helmut Lachenmann

The music of Helmut Lachenmann is a challenge to musicians – in the best meaning of the word. In this project organized by Fundação Casa da Música and supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Helmut Lachenmann’s works will be elaborated in an intensive process and ultimately compiled into a coherent portrait. The rehearsals and concerts will be preceded by a workshop – and for most of the sessions Lachenmann will himself be present.The aim of the composer’s portrait is to present at the highest level a broad selection of Lachenmann’s works to an as wide an audience in Portugal as possible. To achieve this aim organizers have invited experts on the composer’s work. Matthias Hermann, Peter Rundel, Gregory Rose, Lothar Zagrosek and Baldur Brönnimann will be involved here as will, for instance, the Arditti Quartet.
