20. Festival Slowind 2018

Glasbeno drustvo Slowind, Ljubljana, Slovenia

In 2018 Slowind is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Two decades during which time the audience has grown ever larger and ever more inquisitive – over the last ten years under the direction of Slovenian composer Nina Šenk. The festival’s anniversary edition features eight concerts (some including artist discussions) for which three composition commissions have been issued to Matej Bonin, Nina Šenk and Vinko Globokar, in addition to lectures and workshops. Alongside the wind quintet Slowind, which Nina Šenk’s work was written for, Slowind 2018 also features Austria’s Klangforum Wien and America’s JACK Quartet. In a joint concert the Slowind musicians and Klangforum Wien will perform works by Beat Furrer, Enno Poppe, Vito Žuraj as well as the new works by Matej Bonin and Nina Šenk. The concerts by Klangforum Wien and the JACK Quartet will feature works by Rebecca Saunders, Beat Furrer, Nina Šenk (Klangforum) as well as Sabrina Schroeder, Matthias Pintscher, Elliott Carter, Liza Lim and Iannis Xenakis (JACK Quartet).
