Biennale Musiques en Scene 2018

GRAME, national center for contemporary music, Lyon

Organized by GRAME the Biennale Musiques en Scene has been in existence now for a quarter of a century and in that time has established itself among the largest and most important festivals of contemporary music in France as well as internationally. In 2016 the festival posted a record of over 50,000 visitors. Right from the outset the Biennale was set up as a multidisciplinary festival – arranged in such a way as to blur borders between genres, styles and arts but also to question them at the very least. In 2018 it is dedicated to the topic of the borderland – ‘Grenzland’ (Etat(s) Limite(s)). The guest artist this time is Dutch composer and artist Michaël Levinas. Combining concert, multimedia show and installation formats the festival sheds light on Levinas’ artistic universe. Furthermore, other works will be featured such as those by Hector Para, Nuria Gimenez-Comas, Jesper Nordin and Dmitri Kourliandsky, performed by ensembles and musicians like Marco Blaauw, Arne Deforce, Quatuor Diotima and Anna Clementi.

February 27 – March 21, 2018
