Elbphilharmonie Visions

The Elbphilharmonie Visions festival, held biennially from February 2021, showcases the essence of the most promising contemporary music works of the past five to ten years in a series of ten concerts featuring top-class musicians, thereby giving contemporary music a prominent place in the Elbphilharmonie's internationally acclaimed concert program.

At the heart of the festival are the orchestras of the broadcasting corporations with renowned conductors. The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, as the body of musicians of the cooperation partner NDR, will be conducted by Alan Gilbert at the opening and closing concert. Other guest conductors include the WDR Symphony Orchestra with Cristian Măcelaru, the hr-Sinfonieorchester with Dima Slobodeniouk, the SWR Vocal Ensemble with Marcus Creed, the SWR Symphony Orchestra with Pablo Rus Broseta and the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest under Ingo Metzmacher. Outstanding soloists such as Tabea Zimmermann, Jörg Widmann, Georg Nigl will feature as ambassadors of the contemporary repertoire performing works by Thomas Adès, Jörg Widmann, Olga Neuwirth, Isabel Mundry, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Enno Poppe, Rebecca Saunders, Kaija Saariaho and Michael Gordon.
Particular emphasis will be placed on music appreciation during the concerts with conductors, soloists or composers introducing the music to the audience during the concert in a clear and lively manner.

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is financing the first edition of the Hamburg Festival.
