KONTAKTE ´19 - Biennial for Electroacoustic Music and Sound Art

As a festival for electroacoustic music and sound art, KONTAKTE presents current international stances in Berlin. The festival brings together world premieres, works of the classical avant-garde, chamber music and live electronics – featuring concerts, performances, sound installations, films, discussions, lectures and workshops throughout the entire academy building on Hanseatenweg over the space of four days. The third edition examines the performance options available in electroacoustic music and focuses on new productions specifically seeking new formats of communication and participation. The program also places special emphasis on collaboration with musicians from Berlin's independent scene, such as Ensemble KNM Berlin and renowned soloists like Robyn Schulkowsky, Thomas Ankersmit and Ute Wassermann. Highlights of this year's festival include a Turntable Marathon to mark the 10th anniversary of the project The International Turntable Orchestra by Ignaz Schick, a concert project care of Ensemble KNM Berlin featuring German premieres and a world premiere by FLUSS, the last part in the music theater trilogy STADT, LAND, FLUSS by Daniel Kötter and Hannes Seidl. Invited to the festival as international guests are two projects from the ambit of Shanghai's Conservatory of Music.
