Time of Music: Diversity and Activism

Time of Music, Viitasaari, Finland

Time of Music, the Finnish festival of contemporary music, focuses on the digital revolution and the musical complexity of today, leading to a change in perspective and the need for new methods of collaboration. There is no longer just one creator and one centre that sets a certain direction. How is the compositional work process and the message in written music changing?
To explore these questions, the Festival 2020 invites the Berlin-based Ensemble Extracts, musicians from Syria, China, Korea, India, Bulgaria and Germany and the German-Indian composer and curator Sandeep Bhagwati. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation supports the festival in Viitasaari.
