Anton Webern: Correspondence with Universal Edition. Critical Edition and Commentary

The Anton Webern Complete Edition project at the Musicology Department of Basel University now has a sub-office in Vienna at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften). The primary task of the research assistant there is to carry out research and documentation. Only in Vienna are there such extensive sources throwing light on the cultural historical context of Webern’s work. Forming the focus of this three-year project supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is the exchange of documentation between Webern and his Viennese publishers Universal Edition. A specific aim of the research is to publish the results in a series accompanying the project. This will ensure the work can be brought to a wider interest audience beyond merely specialist circles.
