Portrait Olga Neuwirth

In 20212 the Festival d’Automne established portraits of artists who have marked its programming as a returning format. Olga Neuwirth is connected to the festival through a long lasting acquaintance and therefore it seems obvious to present a portrait of the artist including a new piece. Olga Neuwirth takes a lot of inspiration from literature. Herman Melville is among the authors who influenced her most. Her works The Outcast and Le Encantadas are inspired by the authors templates. Both works will be presented at the 51st edition of the festival. Furthermore the portrait is featuring Masaot / Clocks Without Hands (2013/14) and CoronAtion  IV: “Whoever brought me here ...” (2021/22). The latter is a sound installation taking place in St Eustache Church, performed by Joey Baron (percussion) and Robyn Schulkowsky (percussion and electric bass). With the portrait the Festival d’Automne is seeking to honor not only a great artist but also one who has paved the path for women in the musical world.
