Fast Forward. Initiative Promoting the Reception of Contemporary Music at Vienna’s Concert House

Right from the start a central task at Vienna’s Konzerthaus has been to promote contemporary music. Facilitating new works on the way to issuing composition commissions has always played a key role. For premieres and debut performances in the coming three seasons the Konzerthaus is planning to issue a series of composition commissions. These will go to acclaimed composers like Friedrich Cerha, Toshio Hosokawa, Georg Friedrich Haas or Peter Eötvös as well as to aspiring younger composers like Hèctor Parra or Judith Varga. The performances will each be flanked by selected appreciation activities, talks, lectures and editorial texts on the works. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting this commitment to contemporary music by the Society of the Vienna Konzerthaus Society (Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft) until the 2017/2018 season.
