IV St. Petersburg International New Music Festival „reMusik“

Saint Petersburg Contemporary Music Center “reMusik.org”, Saint Petersburg, Russia

May 2016 will see the holding of the IV Saint Petersburg International New Music Festival attracting numerous contemporary composers from different countries. What is special about the project is the selection of music, the variety of musical styles and instruments and the range of innovative musical ideas. The festival program only features world premieres and Russian debut performances. In addition to these concerts, masterclasses, workshops, lectures and encounters with composers will be held.
The festival promotes a new generation of composers, special new musical trends and classical contemporary music from Europe, North America and Russia. In 2016 it will be supported by the EvS Music Foundation. The program does not cling to the traditional concert format but attempts to broaden the horizons of this genre by including performance art and experimental approaches. In this way it is intended for concerts to also serve as vehicles of knowledge.
Great importance is also attached to the compositions – during the week of the event aspiring young music groups as well as already famous and successful musicians from the European music scene will perform. The projects by ensembles specialized in New Music are intended to stimulate creative debate as well as an exchange of experiences and ideas among the artists.
