Klasse Klassik 2011

Stiftung art131, München

Since 2003 promoting school ensembles has been an integral part of the educational work of the Munich Radio Orchestra. Under the heading Klasse Klassik the best Bavarian school orchestras and choirs are offered the chance to work side by side with the orchestra professionals. Once again with the support of the once again with the support of the EvS Music Foundation EvS Music Foundation Klasse Klassik 2011 will bring semi-professional and professional musicians and singers onto the stage with Bavarian schoolchildren in two concerts. Members of the Munich Radio Orchestra and the youth choir academy AUDI Jugendchorakademie will be performing with the children and young people under the baton of Ulf Schirmer. The program is unusual: only contemporary works will be performed. John Rutters Gloria, Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem will mark the different stances and forms of expression of religiously influenced music. The two striking works with choir and orchestra are grouped around Pärt’s dense and intense instrumental piece.
