Festival Festival Aspects des Musiques d'Aujourd'hui – 30° édition

Orchestre de Caen, France

The Festival Aspects des Musiques d’Aujourd’hui was founded in 1982 and aims to promoting contemporary repertoire and creation. It is the key event of the Orchestre de Caen musical season and closely linked to the Caen Conservatory of Music. From the very beginning each edition of the festival comprises various events: a series of concerts by professional performers; exhibitions, seminars, and lectures with the composers and performers; educational activities and workshops at the conservatory.

This year’s 30th anniversary of the festival will be supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and opened by a newly commissioned piece for orchestra by Jean-Louis Agobet. The second day will be marked by numerous auditions, concerts and workshops around the works of composers who were invited to Caen in previous years, among them Gilles Sivilotto, Eric Tanguy, György Kurtág, Phillippe Hurel and many others. Another highlight of the eight concerts of the festival will be the French premiere of Elliott Carter’s “Clarinet Quintet”.
