The Israeli Summer Course for New Music Performance and Composition

The Israeli Summer Course for New Music Performance and Composition is a new and unique initiative bringing together in Israel faculty members from Harvard University (Dr. Chaya Czernowin and Dr. Steven Takasugi), soloists from the Ictus ensemble (Belgium), the Ensemble Praesenz (Germany), and Israel’s Ensemble Nikel and various international supporters who join hands in creating a new educational platform for contemporary music studies in Israel. The participants chosen for this course will enjoy the wonderful facilities and scenery of kibbutz Ein Hashofet and Kybbuz Dalia for seven days of intensive study, which will immediately be followed by three days of concerts, lectures and discussions, presenting the fruits of the course as part of the Chamber Festival of Contemporary Music taking place in Tel Aviv. Every year, the festival spotlights a significant composer, presenting some of his or her outstanding chamber works next to various related or contrasting pieces from the contemporary repertoire. This year's focus will be on the composer Helmut Lachenmann.
