Composition Commission issued to Helena Tulve

Documentary theater weaves authentic material into an artificial interplay placing cultural experiences within discursive fields of tension of theatrical reflection. Thus far, music theater has only seen but few examples of documentary works. The premiere of WÖLFE by composer Helena Tulve will now explore the possibilities of documentary material and contemporary compositional practice. The tension between the poetry of free speech (edited interviews) and the depth dimension of Helena Tulve's music leads to a new form of contemporary music theater. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is facilitating the composition commission issued to the Estonian composer.
