9 Composition Commissions to mark the Ensemble’s 10th Anniversary

The ensemble L'arsenale is celebrating its 10^th anniversary. Since 2005 it has supported young composers and thereby supports the creation and dissemination of New Music – and this year is no different.
For the FESTA! festival L'arsenale will be issuing nine composition commissions supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The commissioned composers who come from throughout the world already include renowned names like Peter Ablinger, Olga Neuwirth, Giovanni Verrando, Mauro Lanza and Stefano Gervasoni. But gifted young composers like Silvia Borzelli, Santiago Diez Fischer, Giuliano Bracci, Yair Klartag also have the chance to prove their compositional skills.
In addition to the concerts, workshops will also be offered aimed at young composers and performers wishing to gain further qualifications at an international level. Other workshops are devoted to themes like the analog synthesizer or vintage instruments. For instance, Nadia Ratsimandresy will introduce instruments like the “Ondes Martenot” and the “Ondea”.
