Schallfeld’s overarching theme for the 2019-21 three-year period is “Time and its Spirits”: what are these currents in our collective consciousness ultimately summed up as “zeitgeist”, how do they arise and how do they influence or condition humankind?

Schallfeld’s commissioned work MAAT-ME for solo percussion and ensemble by Pierluigi Billone tying in with this theme is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The Italian composer’s world premiere will be held as part of the Impuls Festival 2021.
