Composition Commissions: ARD International Music Competition

66th ARD International Music Competition, Munich, Germany

 

The ARD International Music Competition is held every September in Munich in four alternating categories. Since 2001 the focus on contemporary music has been decisively underlined thanks to the issuing of composition commissions to prominent composers. 4 composition commissions are issued per year which are then premiered by the candidates in the semi-final (or the 2nd round).

Contributors to the 2017 competition are the composers Pascal Dusapin, Avner Dorman, Thierry Escaich and Vito Zuraj in addition to competition participants who reach the semi-final. The forthcoming competition features the categories Violin, Piano, Guitar and Oboe. The EvS Music Foundation is supporting the composition commissions.
