CEME International New Music Festival and Master Courses

Meitar Ensemble

In the 2017/2018 season the Israeli chamber music ensemble Meitar will be organizing the five-day CEME International New Music Festival featuring not only concerts but also a composition masterclass headed by Georg Friedrich Haas and Brian Ferneyhough.

The EvS Music Foundation is supporting this project which, thanks to cooperations with the choreographer Yasmeen Godder, the composer/performance artist Maya Dunitz as well as the composer Yuval Zorn, will feature an interdisciplinary, multi-layered program. The festival aims to serve as an impulse generator and connecting point for the Israeli contemporary music scene: as part of the masterclass young composers will be given a platform for their music – every participant will write a short piece of work for solo instrument to be performed by members of the Meitar Ensemble. Alongside recently initiated projects two portrait concerts will feature the chamber music of the two guest composers Georg Friedrich Haas and Brian Ferneyhough.
