Composition Commission issued to Cathy Milliken

Speak Percussion is commissioning Berlin-based Australian composer Cathy Milliken to compose a new work for a 12-piece percussion ensemble. Speak Percussion and musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music will premiere the new work that explores acoustic and physical space and the notion of community. In Milliken's work for 12 percussionists, the composer sees an overlap and intertwining of music and venue, a former monastery. The composition commission is made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
