13th Slowind Festival

Funded by the EvS Music Foundation the 13th Slowind Festival 2011 will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia at the initiative of the Slowind Wind Quintet from November 7th–19th 2011 and will be devoted to one of the greatest composers of our time – Elliott Carter. The program comprises a workshop, symphony concerts and five chamber concerts. The Slovenian Philharmonic Hall has included Carter’s concert for orchestra on November 10th and 11th 2011 in its subscription. Also at the instigation of the Slowind Festival the Choir of the Slovenian Philharmonic will be performing seldom heard choir works by Elliot Carter. Furthermore, numerous chamber works by Carter, couched in works by his friends and contemporaries, including Walter Piston, Aaron Copland, Isang Yun, Witold Lutoslawski and Robert Aitken, will also be performed. Also held as part of the 13th Flowind Festival will be an international music workshop organized by the universities of Ljubljana and Klagenfurt with participants from Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Croatia and Serbia. 

Elliott Carter will attend the festival as an honorary guest.
