Prague Spring International Music Festival

Pražské jaro, Prague, Czech Republic

Prague Spring Festival has been one of the major international music festivals in Europe since 1946. The festival is regularly commissioning composers and providing opportunities for collaboration between composers and outstanding musicians. The festival plans three concerts and two composition commissions for Czech composers Jiří Kadeřábek and Jan Ryant Dřízal.

The world premiere of Jan Ryant Dřízal´s (*1986) new piece Wild in Heart for chamber orchestra and Pascal Dusapin´s Quad. In memoriam Gilles Deleuze, Olga Neuwirth´s un posto nell'acqua  and Erkki-Sven Tüür´s Oxymoron are performed in the first concert. Jiří Kadeřábek (*1978) was commissioned to write a new piece for a large ensemble which is premiered by Ensemble Modern during the last concert.

All concerts take place in a new concert hall of DOX+ Centre for Contemporary Art, which is becoming the main Prague venue associated with contemporary music.
