Composition Commission issued to Thomas Daniel Schlee

Camerata Salzburg

Over 50 years’ orchestral history have allowed the Camerata to mature into a chamber orchestra with a rich tradition boasting a line-up of young, motivated musicians. Representing over 20 nationalities the orchestra is a melting pot of cultures joined together by the universal language of music. With the support of the EvS Music Foundation the ensemble has issued a composition commission to Thomas Daniel Schlee for an organ concert to be premiered in the 2012/2013 season on the new organ in the Großer Saal of Salzburg’s Mozarteum. The basis for the content of the work are the “Four Servant Songs” from the Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament. With the aim of opening up complex sound combinations the organ soloist’s part will comprise both virtuoso concert elements and tasks playing a key role in the overall sound. Organist Elisabeth Ullmann will perform the organ solo here under the baton of Thomas Zehetmair.
