25th International Freden Music Festival

The theme of the 25th International Freden Music Festival is "Germany:England (Not a Soccer Game!)". The theme stems from the origin of the two founders of the festival: Adrian Adlam, Artistic Director and Violinist, former member of Ensemble Avance and member of the London Symphony Orchestra, today Head of the Strings Department at Winchester College and Utz Köster, Director and Violist, since 1989 member of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg and hailing from Freden, Germany.

Since 1993 the Freden Festival has issued at least one composition commission per year. In 2015, its anniversary year, four former commission pieces of the Freden Festival will be performed once again. These are: Hans Koller’s Blue on blue from 2004, John Woolrich’s Watermark from 2002, Moritz Eggert’s Goldberg spielt from 2000 and Christian Jost’s Odyssée Surréale from 1995. Furthermore, this festival located in Germany, south of Hildesheim, will be issuing composition commissions to Jan Müller-Wieland and Michael Finnissy.
