Klangspuren – International Ensemble Modern Academy

Klangspuren Schwaz, Austria

To mark the 25th anniversary of KLANGSPUREN SCHWAZ and the 15th anniversary of the KLANGSPUREN INTERNATIONAL ENSEMBLE MODERN ACADEMY, which is a 14-day academy within the festival aimed at highly talented aspiring young musicians from throughout the world, the 2018 Festival offers an event program under the heading “Feste. Orte.” The accent here lies firstly on the work of this year’s Composer-in-Residence Rebecca Saunders and, secondly, on works that focalize aspects of celebration, festival, ritual, events or that reflect a specific locational or situational reference. Rebecca Saunders will convey lasting impulses for the performance practice and musical development of the young musicians as will the Ensemble Modern. As part of the INTERNATIONAL ENSEMBLE MODERN ACADEMY, supported by the EvS Music Foundation, it is also planned to realize Christian Mason’s work “In the Midst of the Sonorous Islands” with the active participation of musicians from the Ensemble Modern and members of the audience. After intense collaboration with lecturers and students among other things two concluding concerts will be initiated as well as various living room concerts in private households under the heading “Rent a Musician” as well as a Klangspuren Café featuring Rebecca Saunders.
