Composition Commission issued to Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri

For this year’s Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival Swedish violinist Karin Hellquist has been invited to present new pieces by internationally recognized composers. As part of the project a total of five composition commissions will be issued including ones to Berlin resident and composer Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri, whose compositions, installations and total sculptures are exhibited and performed worldwide. Papalexandri-Alexandri received the commission for a “Solo for Violin and Engines” which is being supported by the EvS Music Foundation. The composition process involves close collaboration between the composer and performer who will come together in Spring 2016 for workshops in New York and Berlin. The work will be premiered at the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival.
