2nd Composition Workshop. A particular time of day belongs to my students alone.

As a composer and teacher of composition Arnold Schönberg was one of the most influential figures of the first half of the 20th century. The search for the ideal composition class was for him a constant theme: “As a teacher I pursue my own plans, my own new method, and I have to take it into the world. [… ] Which is why I have based my courses, that I call ›Seminars for Composition‹, on an entirely new, free system.”

After the great success of the first composition workshop last season the end of 2017/beginning of 2018 will once again see young composers being given the opportunity to intensively explore Arnold Schönberg’s work and gain new impulses in small group lessons and in exchange with like-minded people.

After an intense rehearsal phase for studying their own works January 2018 will see a public performance of the works at the Arnold Schönberg Center. The young composers will also have the chance to work on their pieces with professional musicians.
