Portrait Claude Vivier: Kopernikus

Portrait of Claude Vivier: Kopernikus
Festival d’Automne, Paris, France/KunstFestSpiele Herrenhausen

While the chamber music of composer Claude Vivier, who died under tragic circumstances in Paris in 1983, has once again gained increasing exposure over the past few years, the French composer’s larger scale works are largely unknown in his homeland. Festival d’Automne 2018 now wishes to address this imbalance by featuring a focus on Claude Vivier with organizers, together with KunstFestSpielen Herrenhausen and musica viva at Bavarian Broadcasting Munich, staging Vivier’s opera Kopernikus as a semi-scenic version. Supported by the EvS Music Foundation the production will be premiered in Paris in September after which (in 2019) it will be staged in Herrenhausen, Munich and probably also Berlin.
