Five Composition Commissions issued to the Arditti Quartet

With this concert cycle the Festival d’Automne wishes to celebrate the Arditti Quartet and its already forty years of continued technical brilliance, its passion and constant support for young composers. In  three concerts new works by renowned and lesser known composers  will be performed alongside works of the 20^th century that are already “classics” like Xenakis’ Tetras or Ligeti’s Quartet No. 2. With the support of the EvS Music Foundation Brian Ferneyhough, Mark Andre, Clara Iannotta, Wolfgang Rihm and Salvatore Sciarrino will be composing new works for this cycle, with the Arditti Quartet working closely with the composers.
