"Encounters” – Concert with Beat Furrer

Munich Chamber Orchestra

Jazz lines 2011 – Festival für Neue und improvisierte zeitgenössische Musik (Festival for New and Improvised Contemporary Music) sounds out the transitions and borders between improvised and New Music and the theater. In this way the composer and director Beat Furrer will develop a program with the Munich Chamber Orchestra supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation under the heading “Begegnungen” that brings together improvised and New Music. Here he will rework Roman Haubenstock-Ramati’s work Konstellationen with the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the three improvising soloists whereby part-composed, part-improvised interludes are inserted. By way of a contrast three scenes from Furrer’s musical theater piece “Wüstenbuch” will be performed here.  Furthermore, references to “familiar” composers of the 20th century are made like Witold Lutoslawski whose Funeral Music of 1954 complements the concert.
