Tzlil Meudcan – International Festival & Summer Course for New Music

Tel Aviv, Israel

Tzlil Meudcan started as a small chamber festival eight years ago and has over the past few years developed into an international festival and summer course extending over nine days. In Israel the festival brings together composers from the composition faculty at Harvard University (Chaya Czernowin) joined by changing guest composers and soloists from leading ensembles like the Ictus Ensemble, Ensemble musikFabrik, Klangforum Wien, ensemble recherche and Ensemble Nikel from Israel. These professionals, together with various local and international supporters, have joined hands in establishing a stable, long-lasting educational platform for contemporary music studies in Israel.

Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, this platform is not only acknowledged for its world famous summer school lecturers, but also for its special, informal atmosphere allowing a natural cultural exchange between young talented musicians from Israel and around the world. These participants are chosen carefully by the academy members to live, learn and work together over an intense nine days in the facilities of the Felicja Bluemtal Music Center in Tel Aviv. The week of work mainly focuses on various coached activities which then progress into additional days of concerts, lectures and open public discussions that make up the program catalog of the Tzlil Meudcan festival platform leading it into its climax.
