Lucerne Festival Foundation, Switzerland

The Lucerne Festival will focus on works by Pierre Boulez in three concerts. Initiated by the artistic director of the Lucerne Festival Academy, two withdrawn works by Pierre Boulez, Poésie pour pouvoir for three orchestras and tape and Polyphony X for ensemble, will be performed again for the first time after their premiere. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making the concerts possible as part of the festival.

Poésie pour pouvoir enables Boulez to realize the vision of his text An der Grenze des Fruchtlandes, written in 1955, which was still formulated as a utopia at the time and is considered an important document from the early days of serial composing.
