Composit New Music Festival 2016

An open and creative atmosphere once again awaits participants of the Composit New Music Festival Summer Academy in 2016. Forming the key basis of the academy for young composers is the excellent faculty, an ensemble of New Music specialists and their integration in the Rieti community.
From the international pool of applicants twelve students are invited to present their works as well as their compositional and aesthetic approaches. During their stay the students work with the guest lecturers Perluigi Billone, Stefano Gervasoni and Davide Ianni in private instruction and participate in seminars and masterclasses.
Furthermore, the young composers have the opportunity to rehearse their works with Ensemble MDI. The experienced musicians give the students feedback and advice for the practical implementation of their ideas. The lecturers take part in these rehearsals to guide interaction between the students and musicians.
The new works will be presented to the audience at the end of the festival in two evening concerts. Both concerts will be professionally recorded and each student will receive a recording of the works. This not only contributes to their self-promotion but also offers them the opportunity to evaluate the results of their creative thought processes time and again.
Once again supported by the EvS Music Foundation in 2016, the festival enjoys great popularity in the town of Rieti. Its inhabitants are always invited to interact with the international artists.
