Composition Commission issued to Christian Mason

Christian Mason describes composition as “searching in sound for fleeting solidifications of intangible experiences”. The constant memory of the fact that tones in their uniqueness are not reproducible at will plays a particular role. Preoccupation with your own (not only) musical tradition is important here due to the different types of appropriation and transmission into events of today. Chamber music, where color in the broadest sense is transmitted from one musician to another, is the basic idea of the piece – whose composition is being supported by the EvS Music Foundation.

In March 2016 ensemble recherche performed Christian Mason’s wind trio In space enlaced. Incidentally, Christian Mason is a member of the jury of the project next to recherche featuring young Swiss composers.
