Composition Commission issued to Hilda Paredes

DuoHarPerc, Wiener Neustadt, Austria

Harp and percussion are the two sound worlds that link the duo Virginie Tarrête (harp) and Laszlo Hudacsek (percussion). Both musicians have gathered international concert experience with contemporary music and now channel this into projects featuring New Music for harp and percussion. The musicians also experiment with multiply extended line-ups, for instance with fine artists and actors, as well as with transcriptions of older works for their own line-up.
The duo collaborates with composers of all ages, from different cultures and many countries. The aim here is to discover as varied as possible musical styles. For this reason, the Mexican composer Hilda Paredes created a piece at the request of the musicians and with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation that uses electronic equipment. This broadens the acoustic possibilities of the instruments. The composer uses specially developed software from the Heinrich Strobel Experimental Studio at the German broadcasting corporation Südwestrundfunk. Just as in earlier works, Hilda Paredes is primarily concerned with the interaction of the two instruments in combination with the technical possibilities.
