Composition Commission issued to Samuel Penderbayne

The Neue Philharmonie München has commissioned a work by Samuel Penderbayne, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The premiere will comprise an approximately 15-minute work for large orchestra that explores the concept of the Third Space. Third Space is a term coined by the Indian-American post-colonialist and literary critic Homi K. Bhabha to describe the hybridization between two cultures. In the four movements of his new composition, Samuel Penderbayne processes subjective impressions of the genres with a contemporary sound of the symphony orchestra.
