Neue Musik in Bewegung: Musik- und Tanztheater heute

Institut für Musik und Musikerziehung Darmstadt

The Darmstadt Institute of New Music and Music Education (Institut für Neue Musik und Musikerziehung) is a globally unique institution for exploring and teaching New Music. New Music in Movement: Music and Dance Theater Today is the topic of the institute’s 64th Spring Conference running from April 7th to 10th 2010. The topic will be deliberated upon in lectures, workshops, concerts, discussions and at a youth music workshop "JugendMusikWerkstatt". Those invited include composers Vinko Globokar, Heiner Goebbels, Markus Hechtle, Jörg Mainka, Wolfgang Rihm, José M. Sánchez-Verdú and Manos Tsangaris, dancer and choreographer Anna Huber, opera directors Peter Konwitschny and Sergio Morabito, dramatist Jens Schroth, music scholars Ralf Kohler, Wolfgang Lessing, Regine Elzenheimer, Claudia Jeschke, Albrecht Wellmer and Ulrich Mosch as well as educationist Kristin Westphal. The conference sees itself as an open-outcome discussion that ventures to look at a difficult but key topic that has generated a great deal of reflection in the present day but which has until now only been inadequately linked to fundamental issues. With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation the lectures are supplemented by concerts also including the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and the composers slide quartet.
