Mediation, dialogue, participation, enthusiasm, new concert formats, composition today – all these terms aim to define the work and activity of Jörg Widmann, such an extraordinary musician, composer, conductor, dramaturge and art mediator. This is evident in his music, his compositions, his public appearances as an artist, speaker and teacher, in his conceptual program work and his artistic accompaniment of other musicians. As part of Heidelberger Frühling 2021, the audience will be introduced to elements of the "Jörg Widmann Cosmos," which is marked by the musical exploration of existential dichotomies such as "beauty versus non-beauty," "place versus placelessness," "beginning versus end," and where (primal) sound is omnipresent. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making this festival focus possible.
