Composition Commission issued to Charlotte Seither and Ulrich A. Kreppein: Tête-à-tête / Skulpturen und Neue Musik (Tête-à-tête / Sculptures and New Music)

Förderkreis für Neue Musik Heilbronn e.V., Erlenbach, Germany

At a concert featuring a sculpture presentation the Boulanger Trio will be debuting works for piano trio by Ulrich A. Kreppein and Charlotte Seither. Both composers were invited to Heilbronn to select one or more head sculptures from the inventory of the municipal museums which each of the commissioned works, being supported by the EvS Music Foundation, will then refer to.

This means two head sculptures from the second half of the 20th century will become the source of inspiration and subject matter for two contemporary composers. The fine art works will be made to ring out, as it were. Presenting these two sculptures as part of the concert makes more conscious listening and experiencing of contemporary art music possible and also opens up this music to more unsure or unschooled listeners. Furthermore, a panel discussion will be held with the composers and the curator of Heilbronn’s municipal museums.

The Boulanger Trio is going to present the compositions at two further concerts given in Berlin and Hamburg.
