Ergon Ensemble Project

Ergon Ensemble, Athens, Greece

Ergon Ensemble was founded in Greece in 2008, based on a core formation of soloists and joined by artists specialized in new music, shaping a flexible musical ensemble. The members of Ergon Ensemble are all former participants of the International Ensemble Modern Academy, which takes place every year in Paxos. Until today, Ergon Ensemble continues working in close collaboration with Ensemble Modern, and is supported and guided by the knowledge and the experience of this world-leading ensemble of new music. With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, Ergon Ensemble is entering a new phase in its development this season. The aim is to establish a more stable formation that develops its own artistic initiatives and actively seeks the means to realize them. This will enable the ensemble to respond to the needs of contemporary music creation in Greece and the broader southeastern Mediterranean region. The planned activities involve concerts, CD recordings, educational activities, and interdisciplinary collaborations combining various forms of performing arts such as Dance, Music Theatre and Multimedia.
